Problem

Most resort websites face common challenges:

  • Content is heavily listing-based (rooms, pricing) → lacking emotional engagement

  • Disconnected user experience that fails to reflect the actual resort atmosphere

  • Weak visual direction → insufficient premium perception

  • Unclear booking funnel → low conversion rates

For La Costa, the key challenge was:
→ Transform the website into a digital extension of the resort experience, not just an information platform.

Solution

1. Experience-driven Storytelling

  • Designed a narrative-driven structure instead of a traditional layout

  • Hero visuals and cinematic imagery create immediate emotional impact

  • Content structured around experiences: Stay – Experience – Wellness – Dining

2. Immersive UX Flow

  • Scroll-based journey that mimics a real retreat experience

  • Reduced visual clutter, increased whitespace for a “breathing” layout

  • Minimal navigation to maintain immersion

3. Premium Visual Direction

  • Color palette: neutral tones combined with ocean-inspired hues

  • Natural lighting, wide-angle photography, cinematic compositions

  • Elegant, editorial-style typography for a refined feel

4. Conversion-focused Design

  • “Book Now” CTA placed strategically throughout the journey without being intrusive

  • Clear room and villa presentation for easy comparison

  • Mobile-first optimization for quick booking behavior

Result

  • Stronger premium brand perception and positioning

  • Increased on-site engagement and session duration

  • A smoother user journey from inspiration to action

  • Higher direct booking conversion, reducing dependency on OTAs
